@viennalucca while fishing for large fish, especially ones that are capable of pulling a person in the water, you will lock your knees under the gunnel or you step back away from the gunnel and lean back. It is a hard task when fighting goliath grouper, but there is no excuse for a broken rod. He got caught making a mistake while fighting the fish, and he made several mistakes while fighitng that fish.

@jkhumphrey18 how do you mean that? i dont get it..i think that his knees just kinda gave in and then the fish went under the boat and it just broke the rope then.. maybe im wrong
@Derrick150015 I have caught a goliath that was that size and I did not manage to break the rod in the process. Breaking the line or leader is acceptable but the rod broke due to human error.
